In her seven years as a self-syndicated political cartoonist from San Diego County, Pam Winters' work was published in a variety of newspapers throughout California, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Jose Mercury News, and the Sacramento Bee, as well as in the Washington Post National Weekly Edition. Her first cartoon was published in her hometown paper, the North County Times, in 1998.
Pam's cartoons address a wide range of topics, including social issues, education, health care, and particularly those issues directly affecting women and children. A native of California, she appreciated the state's natural gift for providing a plethora of compelling topics on any given day.
From 2005–2007, Pam lived and worked in Washington, D.C., taking a break from her editorial cartooning endeavors in order to soak up the city and culture that comprise the Nation's Capital. It was a profound experience that has had a huge impact on her life—personally, socially and creatively.
Pam graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor's degree in political science and Russian and Soviet studies. In June 2008, she successfully completed an intensive certificate program in digital design. It is her goal to combine her background in cartooning and art with the world of web design and animation in order to keep the creative process flowing and discover new ways of realizing her artistic vision. |
