This cartoon was done during the recent budget crisis whereby both sides of lawmakers diverged widely on what they thought was an acceptable solution. Much of their differences could be boiled down to the Democrats wanting less cuts and more taxes, and the Republicans wanting more cuts and no additional taxes. While neither sounds particularly palatable, the latter approach is one I simply cannot grasp without coming to the conclusion shown in the cartoon.
