California is not unique in haggling on the matter of whether or not to raise the minimum wage. However, due to the higher cost of living throughout the state, it has become an extremely urgent issue for those just trying to scrape by, let alone create a stable future. I read something about the business interests opposed to seeing it raised commenting that a change would not help full-time breadwinners. How can this be when there are plenty of minimum wage jobs filled by individuals trying to support families? If you ask me, it boils down to a cold, unfeeling arrogance that looks out for the bottom line, period—not the individuals helping to meet it.
