In California, much of the recent job-related news has focused on the state’s crippled workers’ compensation system. Injured workers in need of assistance cannot properly receive it and employers in need of able bodies are running out of funds to insure workers who have yet to stub a toe! At the heart of the mess is a great deal of inefficiency, corruption and greed. Add increasingly expensive unemployment insurance to the mix (fueled in large part by the workers’ comp situation), and you can see why many employers are simply unable to hang on.
